Building Usage During the Pandemic
Dear Spring Glen Church members and friends,
The issue of use of the building during the pandemic was raised to the Trustees by the church staff. The church is in the process of installing an updated security system but that is not yet in place. Up until now the building has remained accessible to those with a code but the normal flow of people in and out of the building providing oversight is missing. There are concerns about unexpected use without follow up cleaning or people unexpectedly encountering others in the building and creating risk of spreading the virus. For now, the Trustees have made the following decisions:
Building use will be restricted. Outside groups have been asked to not use the building since the Governor’s Stay Home Stay Safe order in March and that will continue. The code entry system on the one side door will be disabled and that door will remain locked at all times. Anyone who does not have a key and needs access to the building should reach out to the office by email at SGC@springglenchurch.org. They will arrange access.
Parking lot use for gatherings or events of outside groups will not be allowed at this time. We do not have a system in place to monitor that groups are complying with the social distancing recommendations.
The nursery school may use their space this fall if they choose to open. You may have noticed their sign. The nursery school has a formal lease and uses only dedicated space.
We understand this is a very difficult time for us all. We are fortunate to live in a state where there is generally good compliance with safety recommendations and those are proving effective. We believe it is important that the church make decisions that are in alignment with those measures.
This situation is very fluid. The Trustees met on this topic on July 7th and will meet again as needed when the situation changes. We look forward to being able to be more open again. In addition, once the new security system is in place it will be much easier to accommodate occasional use of the building by our members as needed.

Mission Statement
As part of the Body of Christ, the Spring Glen Church is called to follow Jesus’ example of respect for the integrity and dignity of all persons. This is summed up in Jesus’ Great Commandment to love God with heart, soul, mind, and strength, and others as ourselves (Luke 10:27). To follow this commandment is to pursue love, safety, peace and security for all who use our facilities.
Purpose
Spring Glen Church welcomes the use of the church facilities for fellowship, educational and service events. When not in use by Spring Glen Church programs, committees or members, the facilities may be made available to other organizations, groups or individuals whose purpose and programs are in keeping with the our Mission Statement.
Space Available, Usage and Rental Fees
Space is subject to availability based on the Spring Glen Church calendar, which is set by the Church Council and Pastors and is kept and maintained by the Church Office Administrator in the Church Office.
The Church calendar is planned each September; therefore requests received prior to the finalization of the calendar may need to wait for approval. The available spaces for rent are set forth on the Fee Schedule (Appendix – Item A); any exceptions must be approved by the Pastor and Moderator. Prospective renters should understand while efforts will be made not to disrupt any group's use of booked space, the church reserves the right to use the room in the rare event that an unexpected need arises. Remedies may include an alternative available space within the church, and/or a discount in the rental fee.
