Fall 2020 Plan Announced

ONE BODY, MANY MEMBERS

SGC’s Programming Framework for a Pandemic World

Dear Spring Glen Church Members & Friends,

After much discernment we have decided on a pathway to re-engage Spring Glen Church’s robust ministries. I believe this plan provides a thoughtful balance between our public health needs, our spiritual grounding, and our commitment to build an inclusive community of faith, all while staying flexible as the global pandemic develops.

While more details and updates will be made available in the coming weeks, below are a summary and some highlights. And attached is a flyer about our special in-person Worship Watch Party for Rally Sunday this weekend.

Feel free to respond with any questions, concerns, needs, hopes, excitements, etc. Your honest responses will help us adjust our plan to our congregants’ needs and formulate a more informative FAQs.

Blessings,

Rev Jack Perkins Davidson

ONE BODY

Because worship has in the recent era been our main tool for uniting our varied spiritual needs, we will continue online worship (with dial-in options) Sundays at 10am. We believe this provides the most equitable access for the most members. However, we plan to complement this online worship with ongoing experiments of in-person worship. For example, this weekend’s Rally Sunday will include a “Worship Watch Party” on our front lawn. See the attached flyer or the Weekly Friday Email for details.

MANY MEMBERS

In recognition that online worship limits the kind of community connection we need as a congregation, we have greenlit all existing small group ministries to resume programming, whether online or socially distant in-person (6-feet, masks, sign-ins, and outside or in large rooms). Under the supervision of the relevant committee, each group gets to decide for themselves based on the needs and vulnerabilities of their participants – in consultation medical experts and our Conference guidelines. If you are not connected to a small group or would like to start a small group, email Jack@SpringGlenChurch.org to discuss how to connect you with other interested folks.

SOME NEW OPPORTUNITIES

Prayers: Prayer Requests can be emailed to Prayer@SpringGlenChurch.org which will then be shared on our Live Joys & Concerns and emailed to a prayer chain group. Email the same address to sign up to receive the prayer chain updates.

Regional Groups: While our small group ministries provide interest-based or demographic-based opportunities, we will be launching a new program we’re calling Regional Groups that help provide the delightfully awkward cross-clique fellowship we are missing without our regular in-person Fellowship Hour. Stay tuned for more details.

Sanctuary Time: Members can schedule individual Sanctuary Time if you’d like a quiet moment to yourself in the Sanctuary or want to record your part for worship.  To keep church safe, this is only available to one person at a time or to groups of 3-or-more from the same household (if a minor is present there must be at least two adults). Please note that the choir loft and organ area are off-limits. See our weekly email for details on how to reserve time.

Playground Time: Member families can schedule time on the playground behind the church on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. See our weekly email for details on how to reserve time.
