(Frederick Pratt Green)
Music plays a vital role in the life and worship of the Spring Glen Church. From the hymns of the congregation to the anthems of the choirs to the meditations of the instrumentalists, the collective prayer and praise of the faithful is lifted to God through music. To paraphrase Saint Augustine, we at Spring Glen sing with our voices, our hearts, our lips and our lives.
Five musical ensembles assist the prayer of the community at worship services throughout the year: the Adult Choir, Junior Choir, Chime Choir, Junior Bells and Senior Bells. In addition to these ensembles, vocal and instrumental soloists regularly offer their time and talent in praise of God on Sunday mornings.
Let very instrument be tuned for praise!
Let all rejoice who have a voice to raise!
And may God give us strength to sing always: Alleluia!
And did not Jesus sing a psalm that night
When utmost evil strove against the light?
Then let us sing for whom he won the fight. Alleluia!
The Adult Choir sings at worship services from September through June. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 9 p.m. Membership in the Adult Choir is open to anyone of Confirmation age or older.
How oft’ in making music, we have found
A new dimension in the world of sound
As worship moved us to a more profound Alleluia!
