Dr Michalsen's work focuses on the experience of women, especially mothers, who have come into contact with the criminal justice system. In this conversation, Pastor Jack & Dr Michalsen discuss her book Mothering & Desistance in Re-Entry a very accessible scholarly text based on research, broad data, and one-on-one interviews to better understand how motherhood adds complicated layers both systemically and individually to the struggles of incarceration. It is a powerful angle on Christ's call to us as Christians to be in relationship with those who are imprisoned.
