Praying together on our own
As a way to stay spiritually connected during the shutdown,
we invite every SGCer to pray these words,
adapted from Augustine of Hippo, 4th century, North African bishop:
Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch,
or weep tonight, and give Your angels and saints
charge over those who sleep.
Tend Your sick ones, dear God
Rest Your weary ones.
Bless Your dying ones.
Soothe Your suffering ones.
Comfort Your afflicted ones.
Shield all Your dear ones, and all for Your love's sake.
Be present, O merciful God, and protect us through the hours
of this night, so that we who are wearied by the changes and
chances of this life may rest in your eternal changelessness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
